Screenshot 01 - In this screenshot we can see the Avatar climbing a mountain with a skeleton running after him. Apparently, the Avatar is choosing to flee from the skeleton to get to his destination. Apart from the blood on the mountain, details noticeable also include the clouds at the bottom of the mountain. I at first thought it was snow, but an advert from the time when The Lost Vale was in production proved that it was clouds, and that advert is a reliable source. |
Screenshot 02 - As we see in this screenshot, the Avatar is being pounced on by a new species of undead monstrosities, and has been thrown on the ground. These ghouls are likely to be, as stated in Amazing Dragon's fanfiction, the Lurker's undead legion. This is not out of the question, as the manual itself says the Lurker has an undead legion (see Vengeance Bay). |
Screenshot 04 - This screenshot shows a new Zealan temple, built not in a wealthy shrine, but in a dark cavern. These are three new Zealan gods, summoned by a completely new Zealan ceremonial shield, as you may see on the symbols on the shield. The Zealan gods are also completely different from those encountered in the Zealan Shrine, and are within some sort of yellow forcefield. As suggested in Amazing Dragon's fanfiction, it is possible that somebody imprisoned these gods in that dark cavern, which explains the forcefields as well as the fact that they are in a cave rather than a shrine. |
Screenshot 05 - According to this screenshot, it would seem that sorcerers also inhabit the Lost Vale. The Avatar apparently came onto the tomb of somebody, with fires on either side of his body, and a sorcerer is defending the tomb with his magic, in fact he even summoned a daemon to kill the Avatar. |
Screenshot 07 - The Avatar apparently came onto a special gem of some sort, which lies on a pedestal in a pool of lava. If you look at the detail, you will notice an egg (which generates triggers and the like) as well as spikes on the walls. I am not sure, but judging by the distance from the Avatar, the gem might require Aerial Servant to be retrieved. |
Screenshot 09 - Once again we see the Avatar in trouble, being persecuted by one of the new ghouls, by a waterfall. Notice that it is quite rare to see waterfalls on Pagan, so this would be an addition to the few waterfalls that you could count on the fingers of one hand. |
Screenshot 10 - The Avatar went up two storeys to get to a skeleton on an altar, and is being followed by a ghost and two regular ghouls. There is a bag and a helmet behind the altar, as well as some unidentifiable red-looking object at the top edge of the picture. |
Screenshot 11 - The Avatar comes to a peculiar obelisk with runes inscribed on it. The landscape in this screenshot is not seen in any place in the normal Pagan. The obelisk is a completely new thing, as are the seven pillars that surround it (with probably an eighth behind it), each with a gem on it. Everything lies on cloud, and half of the new Zealan shield is near a pillar. Might these pillars be the inspiration for the pillars on which to place the sigils at the end of Ultima 9? |
Screenshot 12 - This is situated in a throne room apparently, with some rubble in front of the two thrones, and a magic helm in its middle, as well as the other half of the Zealan shield. There is also a strange blue head, as well as tiling I've never seen before. |
Screenshot 13 - There is a patch of cloud in the middle of regular dirt, as well as more cloud on the border of some of the same tiling as seen in the throne room of screenshot 12. This could be linked to the throne room, perhaps behind it. |
Screenshot 14 - The Avatar has jumped onto one of those levitating platforms, to get past a wide pit. This is probably not the first of traps, as there are two pillars in the top left that resemble an electric gateway and a spitter. For those that hated jumping puzzles, apparently The Lost Vale would have offered more of them. |
Screenshot 15 - Now we see the Avatar walking dangerously on a narrow series of flying rocks, like those encountered on the way to Stratos, though arranged in a line so that you can actually walk on them without having to jump. As you may notice at the bottom-right of the image, fire shrooms are also in the Lost Vale. |
Screenshot 16 - Arriving at the end of the series of flying rocks seen in the previous screenshot, the Avatar jumps onto what looks like a very high island. Strangely, one may notice the smudged cursor, which is not like the arrow cursor we are used to when playing, but the skeletal hand cursor we see when invoking the menu. |
Screenshot 17 - In this screenshot, the Avatar appears to be at the same height as the island seen in the previous screenshot, so probably the Avatar came here after going there. The Avatar can now descend to water level by way of a flight of stairs. |
Screenshot 18 - The Avatar is once again two storeys high, at the edge of a cliff. There is fencing all around the dirt patch the Avatar appears to have come from. |
Screenshot 19 - The Avatar comes to the house of an old woman looking like Mythran. Probably both are Zealans, and it is possible that they know each other. |
Screenshot 20 - This is just beside the old woman's house, and there are two small ghosts that seem to be attacking the Avatar, judging from his position on the floor. This could be a training session, as it looks as if the old woman brought the two small ghosts, seeing her close by doing nothing. |
Screenshot 21 - The Avatar, next to a wooden structure, has a seeker in front of him. Below the cliff is lava, with explosions occurring in it. There are some stairs, which probably lead to a passage in the lava. |
Screenshot 22 - The setting for this screenshot is a garden of mushrooms, railed in, besides a house. This might be part of a Zealan city. |
