Extra Bags

There's a little-known bag you can get in Wrong. Cleo is the prisoner who talks about the horses. In her cell is an odd-colored brick. Click it to drop the east wall. Follow the passage to a pool with a dead body and the bag. CAUTION: The bag contains Wyrmguard Gauntlets and some gold. If you already have 9999 gold the game might crash. In this case remove the gold from the bag first and put it on the ground.

There's another bag in a pit in Valoria at 89º 31"N, 46º 44"W.

Anyway, the basis of the Extra Bag trick is forcing an overflow condition when the game returns your backpack. Before losing your backpack make sure that it and your toolbelt are entirely filled, and have a weapon equipped. The game has no place to put the weapon so it gives you a bag. Since the bag itself needs a slot, a second item is also placed in the bag.

Caution - DO NOT have your backpack completely full of bags. Have just items in at least two slots. Otherwise you risk this. The game will not put new bags in your toolbelt.

Losing your backpack occurs at the Fight Ring in Buccaneer's Den, when you return to Samhayne's house after finishing New Magincia, and when you are captured in Wrong. Spells you have copied from your spellbook to inventory do not count - get rid of them. Also make sure any bags already in inventory are completely filled.

To get a second new bag, put eight items in your toolbelt before your backpack is returned. Seven items fill the first new bag but again the game is stuck with an extra item. Remember, your "virtual toolbelt" is already full.

At the Fight Ring, when you appear in the ring, jump out and tell Phineus that you don't want to fight. This works best when learning the first level Hands skill since the bags "cost" only 300 gold apiece (or per pair if you're doing it that way).

If your inventory is full when you rescue Raven in Wrong, then you will get an extra bag when she gives you "Raven's Key".
