Hacking Attributes

Open a savegame after going thru Stonegate - probably should get the spellbook too. I use the UtraEdit-32 editor which displays the hex in rows of 16 bytes (00 00 etc).Because of the way these savegame files are created there are no absolute addresses - just relative positions like the .flx files.

Find the 1st occurrence of Avatar (Ascii search). The attribute levels start the 2nd row below the 3rd a in Avatar. If you go in as a ranger all 3 of them will have an 01. They occur every 4th pair 01 00 00 00 01 etc. The strength and mana are located starting in the same row as the last attribute skipping 3 pairs of 00's again. You'll see 3 pairs eg 32 00 3c 00 3c 00 which would give you 50 hit points out of a possible 60. Strength comes first, then mana.
Your limit is ff ff for these. (in reverse order ie 00 01 is 256)

Skills: 20 rows down from the Avatar row is a row containing LordBritish.  The skills end directly in the byte directly above the B in LordBritish. Starting there enter 0N where N = 0,1..,3. Go backwards (to the left) skipping 3 00's for the next one. I think there are 6 of these - in the same order as the journal.

You have to do this twice. Search on Avatar again until you find it all by itself - I think its the 4th iteration down - ignore AvatarAnimiCon etc. Repeat the above procedure exactly.

The journal will only display a 4 digit number for each of Strength and Mana. If you exceed that the page with skills is blank, even though you still have them. As soon as an attribute hits 3 you can't boost it when cleansing a shrine - except for the default 10 points you always get for karma and strength.

The file with Monster info is NPC.flx in the static folder. Using a hex editor you can crank their hit points up to insane level - like 512 for goblin captains. The technique is similar. Find the name of the monster in ASCII and look for three groups of bytes (CF 00 CF 00 CF 00 = 207 hit points) under the name. If there is a second set immediately afterwards that is their mana, for magic users.
