EA Acquired for $55 billionA group including Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund has just completed the acquisition of Electronic Arts (EA) for $55 billion.
It is still unclear what the implications will be for the company, its employees, and the gaming industry as a whole, considering the size of EA and its catalogue.
Hanging in the balance are also the rights to the Ultima trademark, which passed into EA's hands in 1992 when it acquired Origin Systems, Inc. In parallel, Richard Garriott seems intent on reclaiming the Ultima rights as that acquisition turns 35 years old in 2027.
